10 Jul Summer Cocktail Recipes: “Florida Mule” and “New World Gin & Tonic”
As you know from my latest post, one of my favorite parts of visiting St. Augustine was touring the local distillery. I mean, free booze? An excuse to buy gin and vodka? Come on.
Then, today, I got a follow-up email, containing recipes for St. Augustine Distillery’s two signature cocktails. It felt like Christmas. Or happy hour. Whatever. Either way, it was enough justification to break out the bottles and do a little taste-testing. For you, of course.
Hopefully these drinks make your weekend a little brighter. And if nothing else, a little tastier. Cheers!
THE FLORIDA MULE
2 oz. St. Augustine Distillery Co. Florida Cane Vodka
2 oz. mule mix*
Fill a copper mug (preferable) with crushed ice
Stir and top with soda water
Garnish with fresh mint
*To make the mule mix, mix 1 part ginger juice (best fresh, from juicer), 4 parts lime juice, and 2 parts rich simple syrup (rich simple syrup is two parts sugar cooked with one part water until dissolved)
THE NEW WORLD GIN & TONIC
1.5 oz. St. Augustine Distillery Co. New World Gin
.5 oz. Strong Tonic Syrup (Did you know that tonic syrup was a thing? Seriously life changing. And it’s widely available.)
3-4 drops Bittermens Orange Cream Citrate (or a twist of fresh orange or lemon zest)
Add ice and stir
Top with 3 oz. soda water
By the way, this is not a sponsored post; I genuinely enjoyed the distillery and its products. If you’re interested in trying the gin or the vodka, and not planning on visiting St. Augustine anytime soon, you can order online from Broudy’s. They ship to most states.
I hope you enjoy these drinks. Preferable by a pool. And, please, let me know how you liked them!

Posted at 17:25h, 10 JulyI LOVE the idea of a Florida mule!! My family hails from the South, Alabama to be exact, and nothing conjures up nostalgia like those copper mugs. Now I have more of an excuse to get a set to try this recipe out for myself. I already have glasses that would suit the New World Gin & Tonic! 😉

Posted at 06:35h, 14 AugustAs a Florida native, this post gives ms mixed feelings… Shame because I have yet to visit St. Augustine, let alone the distillery! And excitement because I’m going to have to make the trip when I get back to the states. Great post!

Posted at 11:03h, 20 JulyI visited the St. Augustine Distillery last week while there and it was a life changing event!! All the alcohol they make, with the exception of the bourbon, is gluten free. Not liking gin, I tried theirs and it was totally different tasting compared to any gin I have had before. The gin and tonic I sampled while there was a very balanced and refreshing drink. This place is a MUST DO if you are in the area!!

Posted at 04:41h, 29 JulySo glad you got to visit! I agree with the gin; they use more juniper than other brands and it has a nice floral flavor. Thanks for reading 🙂
